Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam? There are a lot of platforms out there offering to teach you how to make money with affiliate marketing, WA has been around
since 2005, is it a scam? The Wealthy Affiliate program (WA) is an online platform for training and building affiliate marketing websites. See my
latest post on WA here. While there are many programs and platforms that show you how to build an affiliate marketing site, believe me, I’ve tried many
of them over the years. I can safely say the Wealthy Affiliate program is one of the best I’ve ever seen. By combining step by step instructions on every
aspect of affiliate marketing, to community support and live help. WA has brought the world of online marketing to the average person. With that being
said, it is not a perfect program, and my job is to make sure that you understand the PROS and CONS of any product I review.
Is Wealthy Affiliate a Scam?
The Pros
You can test the waters for free – I know that many of you are looking to start a side business without
spending a lot of money. I also know that many of you have been burned before with promises of “secrets to
making money online”. Anytime you see a pitch like that my advice is to run the other way. The only “secret”
to making money online is to put in the time to learn the business and then put in the effort to make it
happen. The people at WA know that the only to set themselves apart is to give you the opportunity to prove
it to yourself. Joining Wealthy Affiliate is 100% free (no credit card required), and you can remain a free
member indefinitely.
There is NO experience needed
The training available at WA is designed for the novice to intermediate
computer user. The courses are broken up into major topics, and the topics are broken down into sections. Once you complete all the sections in a topic,
you advance to the next topic. It’s the same way a text book is organized. Remember your American history class? Your text book was probably organized
something like this, Chapter 1: The Pilgrims Coming to America Section 1: Why They Left England, Section 2: Arriving at Plymouth Rock and Settling in
the Colonies. Chapter 2: Breaking away from England. Section 1: Taxation Without Representation, Section 2: Setting up our Own Form of Government.
Etc. It’s a format we are already familiar with.
Keyword and writing tools
One of the biggest fears when starting an affiliate marketing site is creating content. Everyone thinks they need to be a witter
to succeed. Let me make this very clear, you do not need to be a writer, all you need to do is to be able to communicate an idea. The writing tool included with
your WA membership not only corrects spelling, but also grammar and sentence structure, giving your website a professional look and feel. Keyword tool –
Finding and using the correct keywords is absolutely key to the success of any website. With WA’s keyword tool you can find the most relevant keywords to your
website as well as to any articles or blogs you post to your site. All of this improves your standing in Google and other search engines.
Cost – $0 for the free membership. Wealthy Affiliate’s try it before you buy it, is the best deal in the industry today.
WA’s free membership includes free website building and free website hosting. As well as all the training needed to
get your website online and generating revenue. This is a company that truly has faith in their product.

The Cons
The free membership doesn’t ‘t include all the tools and benefits of the premium membership – While I don’t know if I can actually call this a
con, after all, WA is a business that makes money when people become premium members. You are limited with the amount of training you will receive
(only the first level training is available to free members). You are also limited to just 2 websites with the free membership (50 with the premium membership),
and the two free websites are limited to a rubix.com sub-domain.
The training available is very voluminous
Again, not sure if I can categorize this as a con, but for the person with less technical experience the sheer
volume of information can be intimidating. Also, if you are not familiar with some basic terms a novice can become confused. However, WA has made it easy
to ask questions and get help for things you don’t understand in the training. Conversely, if you have experience
building websites, you will find some information redundant. This may tempt you to skip over some lessons,
DO NOT give into this temptation. WA was designed to show you how to make money using affiliate marketing,
often times there are little “tricks of the trade” included that are specific to building a successful affiliate marketing
site.
Costs –
Wealthy Affiliate’s premium membership costs $49 month. This is not an insubstantial amount of money. However, the premium membership is designed
for the person who is serious about starting a business without having all the expenses associated with a traditional business. Because it’s a home based business,
there is no rent, security deposits, or utility charges. Additionally, because it’s affiliate marketing, you don’t have inventory costs, shipping costs or licensing costs
(Please check with your particular state on that last one). Besides, I always recommend that you start out with the free membership, you can always upgrade to
premium later.
